Driving licence flexibility for alternatively-fuelled vehicles

The DfT has said published its consultation response on driving licence flexibility for alternatively-fuelled vehicle.

They have said that drivers should be able to adopt a zero emission van with as much ease as a petrol or diesel equivalent. As such, they will remove the 5 hour training requirement currently in place for drivers operating electric vans at 4.25 tonnes.

This is a very welcome development, and next we hope to see parity on other issues like MOT and tachograph requirements as well as an overall strategy for charging infrastructure.
